1.61 High-index w/ AR Coating

High index lenses with 1.60 high index are good for people with prescriptions over +/-4.00 sphere, because they are thinner and lighter. Thinner lenses have three advantages: they do not look thick, they do not magnify or minify your eyes when seen by others, and they are lighter. The suggested prescription range is +/-4.00 to +/-8.00 sphere. Thinner, lighter and more expensive than mid-high index or hard resin lenses, high index lenses are a good choice for every day use.

What is Anti-Reflective AR coating?

Anti-reflective coating (aka, no-glare, AR) is a series of layers that is adhered to the back and front surface of a lens, or just the back of the lens if the lens is polarized. The purpose of no glare coating is to help reduce the amount of reflections on the lens. Consisting of metal oxides, each layer is a thin film that is designed to block a specific wavelength of light. The more layers of film, the more wavelengths that are blocked. AR coating causes the light that reflects from the inner and outer surfaces of each film layer to become equal, thereby canceling each other out.
